The Cube House is a summer home for a professor on Lake Erie that promotes both solitary and collective learning through the alignment of spaces oriented toward the sunset over the water.  The boundary between lake and architecture is blurred by pulling the lake onto the site as a private lagoon. The professor can witness the sunset throughout the year while a direct physical and visual path can be taken from street to lake through the landscape of maze-like hedges. Voids punched out of the CMU block structure provide light and spatial divisions to support moments for studious reflection and align with exterior elements which open up areas for public garden lectures.
